The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products
The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products is a non-profit organisation that formed in 2011 ‘to lead the transformation to a healthy low carbon built environment by championing the understanding and use of demonstrably sustainable building products’. Since 2011, they have grown to around 150 members of forward-thinking companies and institutions from across the built environment sector.
The alliance takes a holistic approach to sustainability through their ‘Six Pillars of Sustainable Construction’ that includes a commitment to whole life carbon minimisation, resource efficiency, health and wellbeing, ethics and transparency, technical performance and social value. Their activities include; research, awareness raising, guidance and training to improve understanding and aid implementation.
The ASBP partners with a number of like-minded organisations who share their ethos and vision for a sustainable built environment and are part of the SDF Alliance, under the umbrella of the Sustainable Development Foundation. Their partner organisations include: ACAN, AECB, Building Performance Network, BWF, CIBSE, Fit for the Future, Good Homes Alliance, Passivhaus Trust, STBA, The Green Register and Woodknowledge Wales.
The alliance aims to share knowledge via events and webinars, participating in research projects, showcasing exemplars and best practice, fostering innovation and new ideas, campaigning and lobbying for change and sharing resources and case studies across the industry.
