[edit] INTRODUCTION
When I first started my slot as Designing Buildings' Guest Editor I searched the site using the term 'Beeching cuts'.
The result of my search on the site found an article entitled "Beeching cuts". However, the article did not contain any detailed information about changes to the railway network in Nottinghamshire. I therefore searched the site using the term 'Beeching cuts: The railway network in Nottinghamshire'.
The results of my search on the site stated:—
- "This page does not exist. Click here to create the page "Beeching cuts: The railway network in Nottinghamshire"
I therefore created the page "Beeching cuts: The railway network in Nottinghamshire" with a copy of the animated image shown above:—

My next step was to search the web using the same term.
Below are my reasons for having chosen particular news articles describing the impact of the Beeching cuts on the railway network in Nottinghamshire.
[edit] Why have I chosen the particular news articles from the site and from the web?
I have chosen the following articles:—
- Unattributed (created 2020-01-28) 'Beeching cuts', Designing Buildings;
- Archiblog (created 2023-11-17) 'Dukeries Thinkbelt', Designing Buildings;
- Nicholson, A. (2010) 'Railways', on The Nottinghamshire Heritage Gateway, Thoroton Society of Nottinghamshire;
- Disused Stations contributors (last updated 2019-06-10) 'Disused Stations', disused-stations.org
[edit] • Unattributed (created 2020-01-28) 'Beeching cuts'The article draws my attention because of my continuing interest in a plan for an advanced educational industry in West Nottinghamshire, namely:— This interest is evidenced in my own proposal for the use of the railway - see image below (right).
• Images indicating the impact of the Beeching cuts [edit] • Archiblog (created 2023-11-17) 'Dukeries Thinkbelt''Dukeries Thinkbelt' draws my attention for the reasons outline above. My documentation of the project is comprehensively detailed in the article.

[edit] • Nicholson, A. (2010) 'Railways'This article draws my attention because of my continuing interest in railways in Nottinghamshire. My own article on the Designing Buildings site is indicated immediately above..
• Images indicating the evolution of the railway network in Nottinghamshire from before and after the Beeching - courtesy of Andrew Nicholson [edit] • Disused Stations contributors (last updated 2019-06-10) 'Disused Stations'The Disused Stations website draws my attention because of my interest in railways in lines to the south of the new Dukeries coalfield in particular. In addition to photographs it also provides maps and detailed information about all of these stations.
