Pre-occupation fire safety assessment
PAS 9980:2022, Fire risk appraisal of external wall construction and cladding of existing blocks of flats – Code of practice, published by BSI Standards Limited in 2022, defines a preoccupation fire safety assessment as a: ‘process of identifying fire precautions in a newly constructed or refurbished building, taking into account the approved fire strategy, and deciding whether or not the new or refurbished premises are likely to be fit for occupation.’
