High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines an archaeological anomaly as: ‘A location identified during a geophysical survey that indicates the presence or possible presence of an archaeological feature or features.’
