Workbench
A workbench is a flat durable, hard wearing working surface, generally around waist height with sturdy legs that is used for physical work such as carpentry. The bench may have storage areas, or additional tools integrated into it, such as a clamp, these ease the work being done by holding wood or metal pieces firmly in place so they can be worked on.
The surface of the workbench needs to be hard wearing and is often thick solid wood or a sheet metal finish. The materials used and the design of the work bench will often be dependent on the work being carried on it. Some workbenches are foldable and portable so they can be used on site, others are in situ often fixed to the floor and a crucial part of any studio or workshop.
