[edit] Background
National Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event, which provides an opportunity to focus on achieving good mental health. The Mental Health Foundation in the U.K. started the event 23 years ago. A couple of years down the line, World Mental Health Day was observed for the first time on October 10, 1992. This started as an annual activity of the World Federation for Mental Health by the then Deputy Secretary-General Richard Hunter. The day is officially commemorated every year on October 10.
Mental Health Awareness Week is is about starting conversations about mental health and the things in our daily lives that can affect us.The week is also a chance to talk about any aspect of mental health that people want to, regardless of the theme.
[edit] National Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 - Movement: Moving more for our mental health”
Movement is important for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to move enough. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines. Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts!

[edit] National Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 - Together we can tackle loneliness
One in four adults feels lonely some or all of the time. There’s no single cause and there’s no one solution - we’re all different. But, the longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems. Some people are also at a higher risk of feeling lonely than others. Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 is raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental health and the practical steps we can take to address it.
