Mechanical smoke ventilation
Planning Gateway One - Glossary, published on the Planning Portal, states: ‘Mechanical smoke ventilation systems use powered elements such as fans to force the movement of smoke to allow it to escape through ducts, vents or smoke shafts to outside.’
