Fluvial
Culvert, screen and outfall manual, (CIRIA C786) published by CIRIA in 2019, defines fluvial as: ‘Relating to a river.’
A fluvial audit is: ‘The establishment of baseline hydromorphological form and behaviour for a river reach in the context of conditions prevailing in the wider river network and catchment as a whole. Also known as geomorpholocial or hydromorphological assessment, river reconnaissance and geomorphological audit.’
The London Plan, Published by the Mayor of London in March 2016, suggests that fluvial water is water in the Thames and other rivers.
A Guide To Climate Change Impacts, On Scotland’s Historic Environment, published by Historic Environment Scotland in October 2019, defines fluvial flooding as: ‘Inundation of normally dry land, caused by a river exceeding its normal capacity.’
The word 'pluvial' relates to rainfall. See also: Pluvial flooding.
