Evacuation shaft
The 2026 amendment to Approved Document B, Fire Safety, Volume 1: Dwellings, defines an evacuation shaft as: ‘A protected shaft containing a protected stairway, an evacuation lift (together with its machine room) and evacuation lift lobbies.’
