Arrestance
Arrestance is a measure of the ability of an air filtration device to remove heavier (and often larger) particles from the air. It describes how well certain types of particles - such as dirt, lint, hair, and dust - are removed based on their weight rather than their size. Arrestance of these heavier particles (those generally weighing more than 10 micrometres) is typically accomplished by primary air filters.
The word 'arrest' might refer to a fall arrest system (FAS), a system designed to minimise injury if a worker should fall from a significant height and experience impact. Fall more information see: Fall arrest system.
