North Ayrshire Local Biodiversity Action Plan, 2019-2031, published by North Ayrshire Council, states: ‘Pollination is the process by which whole pollen grains are transported to flowers of the same species for the purpose of sexual reproduction in plants. Pollen may be transported by wind or by pollinators such as insects, birds and mammals.’
