BIM for Heritage, Developing a Historic Building Information Model, published by Historic England in July 2017, defines E57 as: ‘A universal, vendor-neutral format, named after the committee that devised it, for storing point clouds, images, and metadata produced by 3D imaging systems such as laser scanners.’
