Flood source
Guidance on the code of practice for property flood resilience, published by CIRIA in 2021, defines a flood source as: ‘Where floodwater is coming from. This may be one or a combination of the following types of flooding:
- Flood from rivers (fluvial flooding)
- Flooding from the sea (coastal flooding)
- Groundwater flooding
- Surface water flooding
- Sewer flooding.
- Infrastructure failure flooding (eg dam failure)
- Compound flooding’
