Barry is an experienced professional with an extensive range of commercial managerial and contractual expertise. He has a lifetime of experience of commercial and contract management, dispute resolution and mediation during his time as Principal of Ashmore Consulting, head of the Nottingham office of a firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and Construction consultants 1996 to 2002, and head of the specialist M&E Division of International Construction Consultants James R Knowles between 1992 to 1996.
With extensive experience working at Director level, project managing, advising and acting on behalf of clients in matters relating to the resolution of disputes by way of negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation - At Quantum, Barry is well placed to spearhead dispute resolution and can case manage any construction related problem.
Formally trained in a variety of disciplines including the law, negotiation, mediation, marketing, commercial management, adjudication, arbitration, quantity surveying, and engineering. He is an experienced and enthusiastic professional mediator who brings a no-nonsense objective style and a wealth of different experiences to bear on behalf of the parties.
Barry prides himself on straightforward advice given to clients, and wherever possible assisting clients to avoid formal process by negotiation. His style can be as forceful as necessary when advocating, or he can use his mediation skills to create the best possible prospects of a successful deal in an atmosphere of calm, positive determination - either way he is focused at facilitating the best possible solution.
In addition to experience in adjudication, arbitration, dispute management, claims preparation and negotiation, expert witness reports and the like, he is also a seasoned presenter of training seminars. He has presented various public and in-house training seminars for specialist sub-contractors, and has provided tailored training to directors, managers and supervisors covering all levels/disciplines of organisations.
