Information container
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a very broad term that describes the process of creating and managing digital information about a built asset such as a building, bridge, highway or tunnel.
The term ‘information container’ refers to ‘…the unique identification of a file. For a construction project, an information container could be a cost plan, a programme, a drawing, a geometric model etc…. Each information container should be identified through a unique ID’
Ref Information management according to BS EN ISO 19650 Guidance Part 1: Concepts, second edition, published by the UK BIM Alliance, the Centre for Digital Built Britain and the British Standards Institute in July 2019. https://ukbimframework.org/resources/
