The Victorian, March 2023 (No 72)
The March 2023 issue of The Victorian (No 72) has a most informative article by Jess Jenkinson about the fine commercial, institutional and domestic architecture of Victorian Grimsby. This will perhaps encourage greater recognition for the town and particularly its notable Italianate architectural aspects. Following the death in September 2022 of the outstanding architectural historian of the late 20th century, The Victorian presents a considered obituary of Mark Girouard, one of the founding members of the society in 1958. The obituary notes how his scholarship and considerable body of published works changed many people’s perceptions of Victorian architecture.
